Id wanted to sign on to America Online for a while, but was afraid Id shoot my credit card to the moon while not knowing what I was doing. So when Jim held up The Official America Online for Macintosh Membership Kit & Tour Guide, which came with 20 free hours to try it out, I jumped at the chance to finally take the plunge. Writing a review was a small price to pay. I enjoyed reading the book straight through. The style was very friendly, as most Mac books seem to be; and Tom Lichty (MajorTom online), the author, was very enthusiastic and seemed knowledgeable about AOL.

I infer that she fell out with the Macintosh Bible folks, and I think that the fourth edition of that book has suffered from her absence. I do not know previous examples of Wolfsons writing, but, if he has the good sense to work with Aker, that is recommendation enough for me. PowerBook Companion reaffirms my response to Akers work. Those of you with children (or grandchildren, as in my case) will probably especially like the distraction it provides kids. Ive found it to be as entertaining as Star Trek - The Screen Saver. The collection includes16 Disney offeringsfrom 101 Dalmations to The Little Mermaid. Some of my favorites are Digital Inkwell, which contains a tool palette, a menu bar, and Mickey Mouse. Having been a fan of SoundMaster for many years, I am no stranger to frivolous, do-nothing software.
